Photoshootings on Gran Canaria

In order to receive my allotted amount of sun basking for 2010, Norman Richter and I went for the first half of October to Gran Canaria, Spain, where we spent 14 days replenishing the proper sun tan. I never had the chance to see this particular island of the Canary Islands and was astonished to discover the diversity of the scenery available at hand. The nature provides everything the eye would like to see and more, beaches, a desert, trees, mountains, you get the whole palette of wonders to enjoy and explore. :-)

Backyard of Gran CanariaThis impressive diversity almost forced us to use the natural backdrops as the constantly changing but interconnected motif for our photo sessions. It goes without saying that in my view the desert was the most interesting of all locations we scouted. It is quite fascinating and beautiful what the nature provided there and I was very much looking forward to shooting in the sand paradise. The actual experience did not happen the way I imagined it.

Susan Wayland in beautiful SpainI had a very romantic notion of my silicone covered shiny latex and all that sand, but I soon figured out that the sand does not come off that readily. After I have cleaned and applied the shine for yet another session, I figured out the best way to choreograph the shoot, in order to stay sand-free as long as possible, even incorporate some strategically interesting sand coverings on the way. I felt at some point like the meat being coated with breadcrumbs, getting ready to be fried. I will never view the Wiener schnitzel the same way. It was really an ordeal to get so much sand in every orifice and body crevasse you can think of, I am sure you can make an impressive list, if you try, but it was definitely worth it!

There was another highlight that I would like to mention here, namely the shoot we did in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. There is a wonderful cathedral named Santa Ana in the old part of the main city, something you would not expect to encounter in a metropolis of that magnitude, actually a well-known tourist hotspot. The cathedral was so incredible, we decided to do a shoot there as well. I figured that such a unique set requires some dolling up and for this event I picked some latex high strap red leggings with a white blouse on top as well as red high heels, giving the whole outfit some pizzazz.

The posh white blouse and the tight red latex leggings worked so well, I believe that this cathedral has never witnessed such a photo shoot in the whole history it stood there, majestic and proud. The sun was shining, pigeons were whirling around the Plaza Santa Ana, tourists and other people milled around the streets and we were in the midst of it all.

Susan Wayland enjoys her relaxing dayIt was exciting, it was thrilling, it was extraordinary and a one of a kind experience. I am very proud of the series, because despite our effort to shoot many photographs in public, we do not get the chance very often to indulge ourselves and use such memorable tourist attractions, like this Plaza, the cathedral and the old city of Las Palmas. I am anxious to present this extraordinary series soon on my website as well.

Cacti Tree in Spain I am not going to tell you about all the other photo shoots we did on Gran Canaria in this report, I would rather have you surprised with every new photo gallery I put up.Nevertheless, I will let you have a glance at all the sites we were able to visit, I rummaged in my private collection once again and found plenty of pictures for you, just to get you started. Have a lot of fun with these private shots of my time in Spain, I know I did!

Yours,

SWAY
